Introduction – Barking in the Blind/Guarding Troubleshooting – Handler Oriented

One of the options is that the Helper has a second leash. When the Handler approaches and the dog looks away, the Helper gives a pop, the dog looks back, the Helper uses Positive Marker and reinforces with a bite. In this case, we create a consequence.

The second option is to have an Assistant. The Handler approaches and the dog looks away. The Assistant pulls the dog out of the blind and the Helper comes out and agitates the dog. After that, they return into the blind for more bark and hold. In this case, we create more defense drive and lack of desire to look away.
