In Progress

Not Remaining in the Position

Not Remaining in the Position

As with all the out of motion exercises, we will useĀ Opposition Reflex. First, we need to make certain that we work on a solid STAND. You can do this by yourself while facing the dog.

  • Place the dog in a STAND position.
  • Apply strong and steady pressure on the leash.
  • The dog will fight against the pressure and will plant his feet.
  • You stop the pressure when you can tell the dog is pulling against it.

Once you refresh the STAND as a separate exercise, you can add heeling. Have an Assistant with the leash follow you and apply Opposition Reflex as soon as you give the command. After a few reps, the dog will remain in the STAND position.
