Step 4 – Increase Distance Even Further and Work on Crooked Backup

We are increasing the drive and have an Assistance hold the tug instead of placing it on the ground.

We also have the Assistance reinforce the dog after he gets into the Basic Position and looks up at the Handler. All of this increases the drive.

If the dog swings too far to the left, you can place a couple of posts to prevent the dog from veering left. You can even position the dog so he runs into the posts with the side of his body to create a little bit more awareness.

Do not increase the distance until this is working well.

You can also begin leaving the dog in a Sitting position instead of the Down.
