Please remember that to build behavior, you have to reinforce the correct behavior.

To fix your dog dropping his head on the turn:

• Place some food under your arm.
• Put the dog in the Basic Position.
• Drop food.
• The dog will be surprised but after a couple of repetitions, will become to anticipate and will look up.
• After the expectation is created – put Positive Reinforcementon a variable rate.

We then need to incorporate Negative Reinforcement:

• Put the dog in the Basic Position.
• Pop on the leash and drop food.
• The pop will become a cue to look up.
• You can give a pop before the turn and the dog will look up. With many repetitions, looking up during the turn will become habitual.
