Two take aways from this video:

1. If the dog chews the dumbbell, apply gentle pressure on the leash and hold it steady until the dog stops chewing the dumbbell. Then you would release the pressure, wait a couple of seconds, mark and reinforce.
2. Your reinforcer might be causing the dog to go into an overdrive. Use food instead of a ball.
