Meet and Greet. Making New Friends

Meet & Greet – Making New Friends

A four-month-old puppy in the video is slightly dominant. He will be greeting and older, 10-year-old Rottweiler. The Rottweiler is very experienced with puppies.

It is important to realize that when dogs run at each other in a direct line, and on-leash, it is a set up for a confrontation. It is best to walk at a distance in a parallel or a circular direction. This allows dogs to check each other out before close proximity. When the distance is close – it is best to take them off-leash or drop leashes.

The puppy ran at the Rottweiler at high-speed, and she immediately corrected him. She is extremely vocal and stands over him. There was no physical damage to the puppy.

After that, the puppy is exhibiting avoidance behavior by distancing himself from the other dog. You can see that he is not fearful, he is respectful.

If you are uncertain about the adult dog, it might not be a good idea to let the dog off-leash if there is an opportunity for the puppy to get hurt.
