Grip Troubleshooting Introduction to Chewing

Introduction – Grip Troubleshooting – Chewing

Another reason is that many Helpers overdo aggression too early. If the dog is not confident and there is too much pressure from the Helper, the dog may lose confidence, which causes chewing.

Chewing may appear when we raise the drive in the dog and without any preparation and begin to work on Out or Bark and Hold. The dog is in a too high state of drive to think clearly and as a result, starts chewing in response to conflict and stress. That’s why we train these exercises in a lower state of drive with a ball or a bite pillow. Only after the dog learns the exercises do we increase the drive and work with aggression.
