Not Remaining Down

What happens if your dog gets up when you left him in a DOWN?
Please revisit the Foundation Section of STAY. Your dog needs to remember the basics of STAY.

After the above review, you can ask an Assistant to have a leash on your dog. If you leave your dog and the dog remains -come back and reinforce (with food for a low drive, with a ball for a high drive).

If the dog leaves the DOWN position, you will use your Negative Marker and the Assistant will provide a pop on the leash. The dog will now know there is a consequence for not listening.

After a few reps, you can fade the Assistant.
