Start

After your dog’s gear is all ready, you will wait for the judge’s permission to start.

Your dog can be sitting or standing.

You can have the dog standing, then take a step towards the flag, the dog knows the tracking begins, drops his head and starts approaching the flag while already tracking. When the dog is right at the flag the Handler will give a command to search.

It is not faulty for the dog to be ahead of the Handler while approaching the track (up to body length of the dog).

A brief sit instead of a stand is allowed.

The Handler must remain at the scent pad for the length of the leash.

You will be disqualified if you give your dog 3 commands to begin the search unsuccessfully.

The scent pad is not time-dependent.
